Prefer to verify the binary first? Every release ships achecksums.txt alongside the archives. Source for the installer scripts and the driver SDK is Apache-2.0 licensed at github.com/muxit-io/muxit; the Muxit application binary itself is proprietary and governed by the EULA presented on first launch.
macOS
The macOS builds aren't code-signed or notarized yet, so Gatekeeper quarantines a downloaded binary. The install script clears that for you; if you grab a .tar.gz by hand instead, runxattr -dr com.apple.quarantine <install-dir> once before launching.
Cameras, SCPI/serial/USB instruments, scripts, AI, dashboards, MQTT, and Python drivers all work. Camera capture uses the systemffmpeg — install it with brew install ffmpeg. Two OpenCV-only features aren't available on macOS: video recording and the Vision detection driver. See themacOS notes in the docsfor details.
Free tier
Free is fully capable. Real instruments work, AI works, scripts work. It's the same Muxit Maker and Pro use — capped on a few limits, so you can decide if it's worth upgrading.

Maker unlocks Muxit-managed AI (premium frontier models with no API keys to set up), AI-assisted SCPI connector authoring, AI image analysis, 10 connectors, and remote access — €9/month or €89/year. Install Free first, then paste the license key Polar e-mails you.
Pro and Lab add premium drivers & extensions, audit logs, and the safety policy engine. They're next on the roadmap — join the waitlist for early access.
